Interview with Merv Bennion

I was there until about 3:30 in the morning, and I was just so cold.  I was chilled and so tired.  I went across the street and laid down in the neighbor's house.  When I came back a couple of hours later, the house was gone.

The only thing left was my front porch area and my front door.  The kitchen was pretty much intact even though four or five feet of it was overhanging.  And my garage was pretty much intact.  The fire department came over Thursday night and opened up the garage and let us get things out of the garage and the kitchen.

On Saturday, they got my stove and my refrigerator out of the kitchen.  So that was saved.  I haven't been able to find much of anything.  I had some collections.  I had some nice antiques from my family.  There was some silver from the Mexican Embassy that was in the house.  My grandfather was ambassador several years ago.
